Bonaire and Aruba

Flamingos on the south end of Bonaire
Ok so I haven't really been very good at updating my blog since my last vacation. After we left curacao the internet connection didn't want to upload my posts so here is the highlights of Bonaire and Aruba.

Bonaire slave huts
In Bonaire we had three days and two nights on the Island. The overall inpression of the island was that there's not as much tourists in Bonaire as in Curacao, the restaurants were been better then curacao. There was one downside, its a very Rocky island so the beaches weren't Sandy and nice as in curacao.

Watching the kite surfers at Atlantis beach bonaire.
First day when we arrived here was a very rainy day. Luckily we had rented a car and drove around the south part of the Island. We drove past the saltworks which had a cool pink color, The slave huts that where used in the past at the saltworks, and very pink flamingos.

Iguanas were everywhere at the hote in Bonairel.

After Bonaire we headed to Aruba, I don't know if it was the order we travelled around on the islands that didn't make us appreciate Aruba or the fact that it was Aruba. But there was no charm on the island. If I knew I was travelling to an Island that was like a mini US I would have gone to the states again, it just didn't feel genuine like the other islands. The best beach in aruba was Baby Beach, perfect are if you are travelling with kids, a laguna with very shallow and calm water. I didn't like the big beaches by the resorts such as eagle and palm beach. When we visited Aruba it was to windy and the sand was blasting at you.

We found a nice genuine restaurant Zeerover which served fish and shrimp fried. Basically they serve 1 kind of fish per day, and you pay by weight. Compared to the rest of Aruba it wasn't at all expensive and very good food.

Last days on Curacao

So we have now changed island and have just arrived to bonaire. The days in curacao we hade great weather but the last days a couple of rain showers scattered.

One day we drove and had a look at the beaches by west punt. We wished we stayed at playa Kalki but continued south and ended up at Kas Abou. A wonderful beach but the snack bar was not much. Below is a picture from Kalki.

We also visited Blue Bays beach resort, downside was that there was an entrance fee but you have facilties there and a good restaurant. The beach was beautiful and had some snorkeling water.

We took a tour on a catamaran out to Klein curacao, a very sandy Island With a light house som ship wrecks and alot of lizards:) While snorkeling you spotted turtles very easily. Below are som Pics from Klein curacao.

Last day on curacao we spent at our beach by our rented apartment, Pirate bay. Entrance fee here aswell but it was included in our apartment.

Our last and best dinner at curacao was at Mundo bizarro. A very eclectic restaurant/bar. It was located in Willemstad in the area Pietermaai.

First couple of days in Curacao

So finally the point came that we took off on our Winter vacation to the heat. Winter in Sweden has only consisted of rain, rain, rain and even more rain.

The destination for this years vacation is curacao, bonaire and aruba and final Miami for some shopping before heading over to Sweden.

Getting to Curacao I was surprised of how easy the whole trip went. Total of 13 hours from Gothenburg With KLM. They had a direct flight from Amsterdam which only took 9 something hours. Perfect!

We got here on thursday but were to tired from travelling so we went out for bite to eat after we had gotten to the hotel. Plein cafe it was called, good enough food at good enough pricesand good service.

Yesterday we walked around abit in Willemstad, a very colourful Old town. We had a bit of bad luck choosing our restaurants yesterday. Endes up on the Punda side of Willemstad at a restaurant very close to the Queen bridge which could not do a very good ceasar sallad.

We visited Willemstads floating market, but after seeing the one in Bangkok you can't really say that this was a
Floating one just that the products were brought in on boats from Venezuela.

Dinner yesterday was a great dissappointment we visited a restaurant we were rekommendera by both the hotel and lonely planet mentioned it in our carribean book. Gouverneur it was called, do not go here. I ordered red snapper and it was as dry as toothpics. The service was bad bad slow. Plus i recon that the food was very overpriced compared to the quality of the food you got.

After Willemstad we headed to the beach for som relaxation.

Today we headed to a nice beach called daaibooi, I can't remember seeing water that turqoise ever before.
We stopped at on Old salt marsh and saw a couple of flamingos really hope to see more of that on bonaire.

Dinner today we ate at Pirate bay at piscadera, Right where we live. It was perfect, the service was great and the food aswell.

I'll update With more pictures soon.
