The last days in NYC

Union Square

View from Top of the Rock

So the internet at the hotel didn't work so well the last couple of days in NYC, so here's a summary of the last three days of the trip. It turned out to be a long post but I hope you read it:)

The day my mother inlaw turned 60 didn't end at Bathtub Gin. Me and Amanda continued to Marie Crisis (http://www.yelp.com/biz/maries-crisis-new-york) . Don't really know how to explain this place. It's a bit rough on the eyes, but if you like broadway and like singing you'll love this place. There is a pianist who plays showtunes and everyone sings. I ended up singing Anthem from the musical Chess. Was so nervous so my heart almost jumped out of my chest. Haven't really sung infront of an audience or anyone who will listen in a while. We stayed there for an hour or so, before we continued to another bar the duplex (http://www.theduplex.com/site/) . Stayed for about an hour there aswell, but it couldn't compare to Marie Crisis. It wasn't a bad bar, a guy by a piano singing was the music for the first floor.

The day after we went to a broadway show, Phantom of the Opera. Not my first choice of musical, but my mother inlaw really wanted to see it because the most famous musical artist from Sweden acted in it. My review of this musical is that the female lead who played Christine ad a beautiful voice, but Peter Jöback the swedish guy couldn't really carry his part. He a very good singer, but not right for the part as the phantom.

Before we went home we also did Top of the Rock. If you are choosing between Top of the Rock or The Empire state to go up in choose Top of the Rock. You get an amazing view of the the empire state and central park.
Top of the Rock
Playing around at Toys 'r Us time square

So the restaurants we visited before heading back home to Sweden were:

Bocca di Bacco
A restaurant close to broadway, not crowded. Good if you haven't booked anything before a show. Good italian food but the concept wasn't anything special.

Todd's Mill
If this restaurant was situated in the UK I would call it a nicer pub. The food was alright nothing special. Very good desserts though.
La Esquina
This restaurant me and Emma visited last time around. It didn't dissapoint this time either, and was the most appreciated restaurant by the rest of thefamily. My favorite was Buddhakan cause I hadn't been there before.
Busy enjoying the food at La Esquina

Awsome corn at La Esquina
Bars we visited:

Backroom
A hidaway bar, http://www.yelp.com/biz/the-back-room-new-york.

Randolph
http://randolphnyc.com/
A regular laid back bar.

 Gilligans
If the weather is nice I recommend this bar. It's outdoors. http://www.sohogrand.com/dining-nightlife/gilligans-at-sohogrand/
Outdoors bar / Gilligans

The Strand rooftop bar
If you want a bar with a view over the Empire State this is it. Nice cocktails.

My mother inlaw turns 60

So today My mother inlaw turned 60. We started the day at Luxemburg cafe. Never had such a good breakfeast. Will update with pictures when I transfer My pictures from My camera. Ate a prosciutto egg sandwich so delicious. Downside was that they didnt serve alcohol until 12 so we couldnt start breakfeast With a bottle of champagne for My mother inlaw.

After the breakfeast we did some strolling  in central park. Brought cupcakes from magnolia bakery as a birthday cake for the birthday. Continued walking to the met and then down to fifth avenue and did some shopping.

We headed back to the hotel to rest our Feet before dinner. After that followes an impecable dinner at buddhakan. Such a nice restaurant awsome food. Pictures to follow here aswell soon. We did a tasting menu cause we were 7 it was easy and the food was so good.

After dinner some of us continued to bathtub gin. Cocktails were not a dissappointment. When we came in, very lightly dressed Women was the first we saw. With tazzled breasts, very 20's burlesque.

Sums up the day so far, lets see if I Have more to fill in with.

Woodbury

So today was dedicated to shopping at woodbury common premium outlets. I can really recommend this outlet, and going there now in August was awsome, sales everywhere. Me and the rest of the family really did bargain alot. We rented a car to get out there cause it was cheaper then the bus this time when we were 7 people. If you rent a car to get out there i recommend you do it on the weekend in order to avoid the heavy weekday trafik. You won't avoid the traffic in the bus during weekday either but atleast you're not the one driving then.

We got home late and had a late dinner. Found an Italien restaurant close to out hotel. It was an the corner of duane street and Greenwich street and was called ROC. The pasta was good. Pictures to follow below. I had Oxtail ravioli. Not a big portion of food but it was good. Andreas had a good vegetarian lasagne.

First Day in NYC for this time

So we just arrived to NY. Second time for me this summer. My charger for My camera had broke so the first thing I had to do was find a charger so I can use My camera. I tried My luck at JR a big warehouse close to City Hall on lower Manhattan, but didnt find it there. Got directions to two camera stores on 22nd street between 5th and 6th avenue. For photo freaks out there the two stores were really something for you. They seemed to have alot of equipment. I found my charger at fotocare. Score!

For dinner we went to a Jamaican restaurant, Miss Lily's. If you like sport food this is the perfect place for you. I tried the Jerk chicken, it was good, although served With marinated cucumber probably marinated in chili or something. If you are as sensitive for spicy food as I am stay clean of these. Forgot to take pictures of the food but you'll find some pictures of the restaurant. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant if you are travelling With the generation that has passed 50 years of age. The music is abit loud and they won't get the concept of the restaurant if you get me;)

More updates to come from this trip.
